Strategies for Switching

Anyone out there able to provide some advice? As you can see by a previous post, I am at my breaking point with my current host. Last week alone my space was donwn no less than four times. That sort of kills the whole five nines thing. I tried this once before and gave up on moving my domain. Any advice on how to do that quickly and easily? Is that even possible? Getting all my stuff off isn’t the issue — I know how to handle the databases, the apps, and that kind of stuff. Its the actual host selection (D’Arcy says Go Daddy and my wife uses Blue Host) and getting the camplesegroup.com domain over there as simply as possible is what has me worried. Help?

  1. Cole,

Give Netfronts.com a look. I use them and cannot recommend them highly enough. They’re more expensive than many but their customer service is insanely superior. I say buck up and pay for value. Granted you post a lot more than I do and probably have more to ask from your host, but in the 2 years I’ve been with Netfronts there hasn’t been any downtime that I can recall and no issue to which I haven’t gotten at least a personal email reply that they were looking at whatever problem I had if the problem wasn’t able to be resolved immediately. And every problem I have had has been fixed promptly.

They even put my letter of praise on their customer feedback page. Give them a look.

  3. Everybody has a favorite and so far mine is Dreamhost. I have been using dreamhost for about three years now and the service has been excellent. They are inexpensive $7 – 10 per month, they provide way more bandwidth and disk space than I’d ever use, are very reliable and have excellent tech support. In addition, they also provide one click installs to word press, media wiki, joomba and other such add ons. Thjis is sounding like an add now…Oh and you are provided access to a QT streaming server….
